Effective 1st January 2025: Air France’s Through-Checked Baggage Policy for Connections via Shanghai Pudong Airport
Passengers transferring through Shanghai Pudong International Airport can now take advantage of our updated baggage check-through service for domestic and international flights. Boarding passes for the entire journey will be issued at the departure airport.
Eligible Transfer Scenarios:
- Connecting from China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines domestic flights to Air France international flights.
Connecting from Air France international flights to China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines domestic flights. * - Connecting from Air France international flights to China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines international flights.
- Connecting from China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines international flights to Air France international flights.
Qualifying Conditions:
- Domestic and international segments must be included in the same booking and issued on a single ticket.
- Flights must be operated by Air France, China Eastern Airlines, or Shanghai Airlines.
- Transfers must occur on the same day at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
*Passengers who connect from Air France international flights to China Eastern Airlines or Shanghai Airlines domestic flights are required to wait in the designated waiting area for Customs inspection of their checked-in baggage.
Notice for Traveling with Pets via Shanghai Pudong International Airport
- Please confirm and prepare all necessary documents required by your destination, such as rabies vaccination certificates, quarantine certificates, etc.
- At Shanghai Pudong International Airport, pets must remain in their carriers at all times within the terminal.
- During security checks, pets must stay inside their carriers and undergo X-ray screening.
- Service animals must wear a clearly visible identification (such as a vest or harness).
Please familiarize yourself with and adhere to the relevant regulations in advance to ensure a smooth journey.

- Lithium battery-powered baggage: Baggage with no removable battery is forbidden both as checked or carry-on baggage. Lithium battery-powered self-balancing devices are forbidden both as checked or carry-on baggage (electric vehicle baggage, e-skates, etc.) at any watt hours and with or without the battery.
- Mobile phones must be switched off or on airplane mode during the entire flight. Wi-Fi modems are also required to be switched off to comply with airline regulations and for your safety.
